Sports
Every few weeks, to make sure everybody in the squadron is fit for activities like the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, we have Sports nights. These nights consist of fun and games, as well as hard graft. The NCO's plan the night and organise fitness and circuits, as well as games such as football. We keep records of every time we do circuits and see whether we have improved since the last time. Within the circuits, there are all of the required fitness skills to enter the RAF; therefore, sports nights are essential for those who want to join the RAF.
During the winter we usually do sports within the TA center next door, so this can restricted the activities we do during sports nights, but during the summer we go down to a field nearby to participate in more team related sports.
Sometimes, we have inter-squadron sports nights; the most recent one we participated in was against 234 (City of Durham) Squadron ATC. All the cadets met at Chester-le-Street and the male cadets played football for 40 minutes,
and all the female cadets cheered them on and played their own version of football!
